It has taken me a few days to formulate a response to the pathetic and callous display by Democrats during President Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress last week.

As I watched every Democrat remain mutely planted on their asses in the House chamber as a 13-year-old boy was honored for his courageous battle against brain cancer, I couldn’t help wondering what my late parents, my grandparents, and various uncles, aunts, and cousins—all lifelong Democrats who have since joined the Great Majority—must be thinking about such heartless and pitiless behavior.

Is this the Democrat Party many in my family so proudly supported, dating back to Woodrow Wilson? Is this the Democrat Party of FDR, JFK, and LBJ?

Are these disgusting lowlifes the best the Democrat Party has to offer America? Are these political malefactors who took up space in the Chamber of the House of Representatives during Trump’s address the face of today’s heartless and soulless Democrat Party?

As I watched the loathsome behavior of those Democrats, I found myself thinking that it’s no wonder 77 million Americans gave Donald Trump 312 Electoral College votes, the popular vote, and every swing state on November 5, 2024.

The American people must have seen something in this new leftist/socialist-dominated Democrat Party that none of my hardcore Democrat relatives would recognize today.

They must have seen how petty, spiteful, and mean-spirited elitist Democrats have become in the 21^st Century.

During the Democrats’ coldblooded exhibition when they ignored and refused to stand for 13-year-old D.J. Daniel or to venerate Laken Riley and 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray—both raped and murdered by criminal Venezuelan migrants—they demonstrated just how little they care for common Americans—or perhaps even hate them for electing Donald Trump president.

Democrats also displayed just how far removed they are from the American mindset when they refused to stand and support the deporting of violent migrant criminals, securing our border, eliminating drug cartels, protecting women’s sports, ending censorship and bringing back free speech,  ending taxes on tips, overtime, and seniors’ Social Security, capturing the terrorist responsible for the murder of 13 American soldiers during the botched withdrawal from Afghanistan, providing tax relief for all Americans, and seeking a path to peace in Ukraine and the Middle East.

These are mostly 80-20 issues—meaning at least 80 percent of Americans support them.

So, naturally, the Democrat Party of 2025 opposes ALL of them.

That brings me to a new Quinnipiac Poll that shows that 68 percent of all Americans disapprove of how Democrats are handling their jobs in Congress—that’s two-thirds of the American public who see Democrats for what they are—a leaderless collection of ne’er-do-wells whose only goal is to oppose Donald Trump at all costs while offering no policies or aspirations of their own.

That view is backed up by yet another poll by Blueprint Research, which shows that 40 percent of Americans believe Democrats have no strategy at all for responding to Trump, 24 percent believe Democrats have a strategy, but it’s not working, 26 percent are not sure one way or the other, and just 10 percent believe Democrats have a strategy that is working.

The Democrat Party is a ship adrift in the ocean without an engine, captain, or crew.  Meanwhile, the passengers are scurrying hysterically from bow to stern in full panic.

Many of the septuagenarian and octogenarian Democrats who remained doggedly glued to their seats last week are the same bomb-throwing America-hating radicals of the 1960s, and they behave like it.

What’s next? Love-ins in the Capitol rotunda? Obscene graffiti on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier?

No, instead, a group of these anti-American hippie-dippy Democrats decided to disrupt the censure vote last week of Texas Democrat Rep. Al Green by singing “We Shall Overcome” as House Speaker Johnson pounded his gavel without effect. Green was tossed from the House Chamber for disrupting Trump’s address and was censured by a majority of the House—including ten fellow Democrats.

Rep. Andy Ogles, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, posted on X that he has drafted a resolution to remove each of the Democrats who demonstrated alongside Green from their committee memberships.

Former Clinton advisor and pollster Mark Penn called the antics of Democrats last week loathsome.

“Donald Trump is gradually winning over the public, while the Democratic Party and the legacy of former President Joe Biden are in free fall,” Penn said in an interview.

Senator Katie Britt of Alabama was also critical.

“I was so disappointed that my Democratic colleagues couldn’t stand and show love for some of the Americans who were recognized,” she said. “That was really heartbreaking to me. You have a little 13-year-old boy with brain cancer who worked diligently to overcome that. For him, when his dad lifted him up, for him to look out across that room and not to have everyone in there standing for him was heartbreaking.”

The only thing more evident during the joint session of Congress was the visceral hatred Democrats brandished for Trump. It is becoming more and more evident that Democrats hate Trump more than they love America, and they despise ordinary patriotic Americans the same way that Hamas, Hezbollah, and Houthi terrorists do.

The proof of that is the way Democrats behaved toward 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, who was brutally kidnapped, assaulted, and murdered by two illegal Venezuelan Tren de Aragua aliens released into the American interior by the Biden administration.

When Trump announced he was renaming a 34,000-acre wildlife sanctuary across Houston’s Galveston Bay after Jocelyn, Democrats remained welded to their seats—unable to concede an ounce of compassion if it meant providing Trump with a few seconds of positive corroboration. Looking up at the gallery at Jocelyn’s mother, Alexis, Trump said:

“Alexis, I promised that we would always remember your daughter, your magnificent daughter. And earlier tonight, I signed an order keeping my word to you. One thing I have learned about Jocelyn is that she loved animals so much. She loved nature. Across Galveston Bay, from where Jocelyn lived in Houston, you will find a magnificent national wildlife refuge, a pristine, peaceful, 34,000-acre sanctuary for all of God’s creatures on the edge of the Gulf of America. Alexis. Moments ago, I formally renamed that refuge in loving memory of your beautiful daughter, Jocelyn.”

Jocelyn’s mother clearly appreciated the gesture and had harsh words for the aloof, deadpan Democrats.

“I was shocked and appalled that the Democrats refused to show any sympathy or concern for what happened to my daughter,” she said during an interview after Trump’s address. “It was their open-border policies that led to Joycelyn’s murder.”

Did Democrats learn any lessons from their despicable display last week? Apparently not. They still appear willing to distance themselves from Middle America and the millions of Americans who voted them out of power last November 5.

Democrats confirmed that when the Democratic National Committee (DNC) last week hired a divisive anti-American leftist named Roger Lau as executive director—allegedly to help the party reconnect with middle-American voters. Incredibly, the move comes as calls continue to grow for leftist Democrats to temper their radical ideas following their disappointing performance in the November election.

Lau is an inveterate America hater and race-baiter who previously served as the DNC’s deputy executive director and who has worked on campaigns for socialist Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts.

Apparently, this most recent move means Democrats are forfeiting the 2026 midterms, if not the 2028 presidential election, to Republicans because they certainly aren’t attracting middle Americans to their political beliefs—whatever they are.

Many years ago, as a college student, I had already begun moving away from the Democrat Party, much to the vexation of my parents and other family members.

It was during the Vietnam War, and I was a veteran of the U.S. Army. I found myself at odds with a party that spawned unpatriotic anti-American zealots like Jane Fonda and Angela Davis, as well as Marxists like Saul Alinsky, whose 1971 book “Rules for Radicals” is the playbook for today’s Democrat Party.

That is evident when you read Alinsky’s list of 13 rules, one of which is clearly in use by today’s leftist Democrats: “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.”

As I watched the Democrat Party turn toward socialism and away from traditional American values, I became politically independent. Like many of my once-liberal friends, I grew more traditional and measured with age. I guess that means I became more conservative.

One thing is for sure: I know what side of the House Chamber I would have occupied had I been invited to Donald Trump’s speech—and it wouldn’t have been with the contemptible, heartless creatures who call themselves Democrats.
