Vance Waltzes Past Walz

At the risk of joining possibly thousands of others who have decided to opine about Tuesday’s debate between vice-presidential candidates J.D. Vance and Tim Walz, I feel compelled to offer a few lines of commentary.

Here are my takeaways from the CBS-sponsored debate.

First, the moderators, Margaret Brennan and Norah O’Donnell. The two biased harpies didn’t disappoint the Marxist minions. As Americans have come to expect from the legacy media, it was another debate where the Republican candidate had to debate three people—his opponent and two biased moderators.

For the most part, the partizan CBS duo gave Walz a leftist tongue bath while peppering Vance with questions designed to rattle and cower him. It didn’t work. Vance was ready. He stood his ground and fired back at Brennan and O’Donnell when they tried spitefully and unsuccessfully to “fact-check” him several times.

As Expected: CBS Moderators Jobbed Vance & Helped Balz

The only time the CBS magpies remotely attempted to fact-check Walz was when they asked him why he lied about being in China during the 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre in Beijing. He wasn’t. He was in Nebraska, which, the last time I looked, is still several thousand miles from China. “I misspoke,” Walz told the CBS moderators. “Sometimes I act like a knucklehead.”

When pressed further, he said: “I got there that summer and misspoke on this, so I will just say that’s what I’ve said. I was in Hong Kong and China during the democracy protests.”

Of course, Walz wasn’t there, but the two Man-Eating Mares of Diomedes posing as unbiased moderators allowed Walz to wiggle off the hook.

The Man-Eating Mares of Diomedes

As an aside, I was in Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989—the night thousands of students and pro-democracy demonstrators were slaughtered by the Communist Chinese army. I don’t recall seeing Walz there.

Nor did his National Guard artillery unit see him when they were deployed to Iraq. Why? Because Walz bailed on his unit just before they deployed so he could run for Congress. As a result, when Walz is on video record talking about “the weapons I carried in war,” he is lying again. He never went to Iraq and, therefore, never could have carried weapons there.

Second, without a doubt, Vance was the more polished and effective debater. Vance stuck to the issues and made point after point about the failures of the Biden-Harris regime. Walz bumbled out of the gate and didn’t find his stride until the debate was halfway finished. At one point, Walz confused Israel with Iran when he declared that the “expansion of Israel and its proxies (Hamas and Hezbollah) is an absolute fundamental necessity for the United States (to oppose). Naturally, the moderators didn’t see any reason to correct Walz.

Third, when the moderators broached the shortage of affordable housing, Vance blamed the issue on energy costs and production as well as the 10-15 million illegal migrants who have invaded the nation since the Biden-Harris regime took office and implemented an open-border policy.

Walz, meanwhile, referred to Kamala Harris’s plan to provide $25,000 in down-payment grant assistance for first-time homebuyers. When Vance mentioned that real estate experts have said such a plan would drive up home prices even more, Walz rejected the notion.

                      J.D. Vance

“The problem we’ve had is that we’ve got a lot of folks that see housing as another commodity,” he said. “It can be bought up, it can be shifted, it can be moved around. Those are not folks living in those houses.” Walz was referring to real estate speculators who often buy houses, refurbish them, and put them back on the market at prices much higher than when they purchased them.

Vance disagreed, arguing that expanding energy production would lower housing costs overall. “If we open up American energy, you will get immediate pricing release relief for American citizens, not by the way, just in housing, but in a whole host of other economic goods, too,” Vance said.

He then criticized Biden and Harris for allowing millions of illegal migrants to cross our borders.

“We don’t want to blame immigrants for higher housing prices, but we do want to blame Kamala Harris for letting in millions of illegal aliens into this country, which does drive up costs,” he said.

Fourth, after both candidates had been allowed to answer and respond to each other on an immigration question, Brennan inserted herself into the debate, asserting, “And just to clarify for our viewers, Springfield, Ohio, does have a large number of Haitian migrants who have legal status, temporary protected status.”

Vance quickly noted that CBS said it would not fact-check the debaters and that because CBS broke its rules, he should be allowed to respond. Vance began a meticulous and accurate discussion of how exactly Vice President Kamala Harris is abusing federal immigration law to fly migrants into the United States, including to Springfield, without authorization from Congress. But instead of letting Vance continue, McConnell cut his microphone.

That little exchange demonstrated what most Republicans and conservatives feared: the debate would not be just Vance against Walz but Vance against Walz and the two biased CBS moderators, both of whom were intent on helping Walz attack his Republican opponent.

I almost turned off the debate then, but I stuck with it.

I’m glad I did because Vance went on to win the rigged debate. Viewers saw just how rigged it was when the moderators refused to allow any criticism of the Biden-Harris immigration conspiracy.

Fifth, and perhaps the most significant blow to the Harris-Walz strategy to deflect and ignore discussion of the unmitigated mess the Biden regime has made of the American economy was Vance’s savaging of Kamala’s hair-brained ideas for fixing it.

Walz spent two minutes describing Harris’s specious basket of economic solutions, her plans to fix the border, and her plans to confiscate guns, among other things. Then, the moderators allowed Vance to respond. He didn’t disappoint.

              Tim Walz

“You’re going to hear a lot from Tim Walz this evening about what Kamala Harris proposes to do, and some of it, I’ll be honest with you, even sounds pretty good,” Vance began. Then he went for the vena jugularis, as the Romans liked to say.

“What you won’t hear is that Kamala Harris has already done it. Because she’s been the vice president for 3 1/2 years, she had the opportunity to enact all these great policies. What she’s done instead is drive the cost of food higher by 25%, drive the cost of housing higher by about 60%, open the American southern border, and make middle-class life unaffordable for many Americans,” Vance said.

Vance added that Harris is trying to run as a challenger when she is the incumbent.

“We need change,” Vance said. “We need a new direction. We need a president who has done this once and did it well. Please vote for Donald Trump. And whether you vote for me or Tim Walz, I just want to say I’m so proud to be doing this, and I’m rooting for you.”

I can only hope that voters who watched this debate will do the right thing and keep Harris and Walz from gaining access to the White House while putting a proven leader back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

With the American economy in dire danger from a crippling port strike, the Middle East on the brink of exploding into a much broader and more dangerous conflict, and the war in Ukraine continuing to rage, the last thing we need is a White House occupied by an empty-headed Kackler and a lying Knucklehead.
