The numbers don’t lie, and all of us have seen them.
In a recent NBC News and Hart Research poll, just 27 percent of Americans view the Democratic Party favorably. A CNN poll revealed that only 29 percent of the respondents had a favorable outlook toward the Democrats.
In both cases, those dismal numbers are lower than at any point since polling organizations began sampling Americans about their views of political parties decades ago.
Furthermore, the NBC poll revealed that 54 percent of Americans have a negative view of the Democrats, and in the CNN poll, 55 percent regarded the Democrat Party negatively.
Meanwhile, President Trump’s approval rating remains comparatively high as Americans express optimism about the future of the country under his precipitous leadership. Polls show that 47 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s job as president. During Trump’s first term, his approval rating lingered around 40 percent for most of his time in the White House.
So, what does all of this mean? For one thing, it means that much to the dismay of Democrats, Americans believe the country is on the right track.
According to the NBC News–Hart Research poll, 44 percent of voters now see the country moving in the right direction. That is the highest “right track” number since early 2004 and a sharp increase from November 2024, when just 27 percent of Americans believed the country was headed in the right direction.
None of this is good news for Democrats, who appear leaderless and flailing.
The Democrat Party has no definitive direction. We all see how many in the party suffer from TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome).
We know what Democrats are against, but what are they for?
They hate Donald Trump with a passion normally reserved for such despicable tyrants as Stalin, Mao, Hitler, or Vlad the Impaler.
They view him as nothing less than the anti-Christ—an evil presence in the White House who must be exorcised at all costs.
It’s too bad that the cost of party-wide TDS is turning the Democrat Party into a collection of leftist miscreants who are openly promoting violence against Trump, Elon Musk, and others in his administration who are working to rid the federal government of fraud, waste, and abuse.
They applaud the destruction of Musk’s Tesla vehicles and the attacks on Tesla dealerships and Americans who drive Tesla EVs.
They root for the collapse of the American economy—hoping for a collapse of the stock market, higher unemployment, and a declining GDP/GNP.
They refuse to support Trump’s plan to bring peace to Ukraine and the Middle East because if he does achieve both, it will solidify his position as a peacemaker and perhaps even win him a Nobel Peace Prize.
They oppose the mass deportations of violent criminal migrants and some 10 million others who invaded our country with impunity during the four years that feckless Joe Biden occupied the White House.
They especially rail against Trump’s invoking of the 1798 Alien Enemies Act to rid America of members of the violent Venezuela-based Tren de Aragua gang. Deportation flights have carried hundreds of TDA criminal illegal immigrants to a maximum security prison in El Salvador.

They support rogue federal judges who are doing all they can to destroy Trump’s presidency by blocking his executive orders with a flurry of injunctions and restrictions, even though most legal experts say those judges are perpetrating judicial overreach that the Supreme Court most likely will condemn and overturn.
Elon Musk, writing on X, asked what I think is the most prescient question regarding federal judges who are suffering from TDS:
“Why did the federal judiciary turn a blind eye to the importation of millions of illegals (during the Biden administration) but now is apoplectic over any action to remove them? How is this anything other than extremely partisan politics masquerading as jurisprudence?”
Most concerning to Democrats, however, is the fact that Republicans and Republican-leaning voters now outnumber Democratic-aligned voters, 45 percent to 41 percent, according to a recent NBC News poll. The GOP hasn’t held such an edge in more than three decades.
How did this happen? The answer lies in two trends: a gradual but steady strengthening in the GOP brand since 2018 and a dramatic plunge in Democratic affiliation since 2020.
It should tell Democrats that they have lost and continue to lose common sense middle Americans.
It’s a constituency that believes men and boys should not be allowed to compete against women and girls in athletic contests that there are only two biological genders, that our borders should not be wide open, that government “lawfare” against political opponents is wrong, that the news media is untrustworthy and is skewed in favor of the Democrat Party, and that parents should not be investigated by the FBI for speaking their minds at boards of education meetings.
Another reason was that in the 2024 election, white voters rose as a share of the electorate from 67% to 71%. That’s remarkable, considering that white Americans represent a smaller share of the population in the country than ever before. For 30 years, white voters have steadily declined as a share of eligible voters. That will not change any time soon because the population of Latinos and Asian Americans continues to grow.
Those two demographics have always been taken for granted by Democrats, yet Trump made significant gains in both.
Donald Trump won the vote of Hispanic men by one point (50 percent to 49 percent), a 35-point difference from 2020 when Joe Biden won the vote of Hispanic men by a 34-point margin. Trump also won 38 percent of the Asian vote—up 9 percent from 2016.
All of which has left Democrats in full soul-searching mode.
What went wrong? How did they lose the working class, and why are a majority of Americans rejecting the Democrat Party?
Democrats have not learned from their crushing defeat in 2024. They still refuse to embrace common sense in favor of an illogical, emotional appeal to America’s critical issues.
They continue to be against everything the Trump administration is doing while they are incapable of offering better solutions than DOGE to solving our $36 trillion debt. They still oppose deporting violent criminals, condemn increasing energy production, or rooting out fraud, waste, and abuse in the bloated federal bureaucracy.
Until crabby Democrats find new leadership and come up with something other than “resist, resist, resist” and “impeach, impeach, impeach,” common sense Americans will not take them seriously.
That’s fine with me.
I stopped taking the donkey party seriously when it embraced idiotic notions that assert there are 40 or 50 genders, that men should compete against women in sports, and that it’s okay to continue on the catastrophic path of “tax and spend” politics.
