White House Orders News Media to Attack Republican Impeachment Effort

Have you wondered how low America’s once mostly trustworthy news media have sunk or how they have become a willing tool of the Democrat party?

Look no further than a memo that was issued to the media by the White House earlier this week. It contains the media’s marching orders.

The question now is, will the media fall into line and do what the White House has ordered them to do?

The memo is just below. See for yourself how blatant the Biden administration is in its control of the media and what it reports. The memo was written by Ian Sams, a spokesperson for the White House counsel’s office. He also sent a 14-page appendix that rebuts seven Republican claims and calls the impeachment inquiry “all politics and no evidence.”

Take a look.

“It’s time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans for opening an impeachment inquiry based on lies,” said the memo, which was addressed to editorial leadership at media outlets. “When even House Republican members are admitting that there is simply no evidence that Joe Biden did anything wrong, much less impeachable, that should set off alarm bells for news organizations.

“House Republican leaders should be held accountable for the fact that they are lurching toward impeachment over allegations that are not only unfounded but, in virtually all cases, have been actively disproven — including by witnesses and documents in their own investigations, as well as years-old congressional probes and even the former President’s first impeachment inquiry.

“We hope this document helps provide you with factual information useful in your reporting on their unprecedented, unfounded claims underlying an impeachment inquiry without any evidence of wrongdoing.”

You can interpret the wording of the memo any way you want, but to any sane, right-thinking person, the phrase “It is time for the media to ramp up its scrutiny of House Republicans” means nothing more than “Get out there and attack House Republicans, make their lives miserable, make them stop the impeachment process.” At least that’s how I and I suspect many of the targeted House Republicans, read it.

And by the way, that 14-page appendix seems to be telling the media: “See, we’ve done your reporting for you. Just copy the appendix and publish it.”

Talk about disrespecting the legacy media…

So why is the Biden regime doing this?

Perhaps they fear that now that an impeachment inquiry has begun, the media will have no choice but to report all of the Biden crime family’s nefarious and corrupt dealings with foreign governments—some of whom are America’s sworn adversaries.

Perhaps they fear that a few reporters who have suddenly developed consciences and rediscovered journalistic ethics will now begin to cover the Biden administration with the same rigor that they covered the Bush and Trump administrations.

Well, THAT is too much to hope for. Fully 90 percent of American journalists, after all, are Democrats, socialists, or perhaps even communists, and it will be a cold day in the underworld when they behave like the watchdogs of government they once were.

The orders to the media were issued Tuesday almost immediately after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said the House Oversight Committee’s investigation has found a “culture of corruption” around the Biden family.

“These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption, and they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives,” McCarthy said. “That’s why today I am directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.

Speaker McCarthy announces Biden impeachment inquiry.

“Through our investigations, we have found that President Biden did lie to the American people about his own knowledge of his family’s foreign business dealings,” the speaker charged, claiming that “these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption.”

I spent almost 30 years as a reporter, foreign correspondent, and editor with the Chicago Tribune. In my entire journalism career, which covered the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, I never observed the executive branch issue orders to the news media—at least not publicly, as in this case.

If the White House had issued such a command 30 or even 20 years ago, there would have been an immediate hullabaloo by most news media outlets—including those that leaned left.

When governments start telling the news media how to behave, how to report—or worse, WHAT they can report, we have entered the domain of totalitarianism. The next step is the arrest, incarceration, and even murder of journalists—a method dictatorial regimes like China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea use to keep the media in line.

Karine Jean-Pierre, who pretends to be a White House press secretary while she ignores one question after another and lies through her teeth when she does choose to answer a query, is fully complicit in this attack on the media. Without a doubt, she is the most maladroit and ham-fisted White House press secretary I have seen in my professional career.

But THAT is another story. This one is bad enough.

So, now we wait to see what the media will do. Will they obey the Biden puppet masters who control every word and move Joe Biden makes?

Or will they choose to do the right and honorable thing and ignore this flagrant attempt to control them?

We will know soon enough.

Keep an eye and ear out for stories that continue to insist that the House Oversight Committee has no evidence linking the millions of dollars from China, Ukraine, Russia, etc., that Hunter Biden raked in and funneled to the Godfather of the Biden Crime Family.

Watch for stories that attack the “political motives” of Republican lawmakers while ignoring the thousands and thousands of bank statements and other documentation that prove the “play for pay” activities of Hunter and Joe Biden.

And by all means, continue to watch for the plethora of softball questions most of the obedient and acquiescent White House reporters lob to the pint-sized binder-dependent woman who parks herself daily behind the press room podium.

Do all of that and then hope that the American news media will finally do the right thing and start covering Joe Biden with the same rigor and thoroughness they cover Republican presidents.

Just don’t hold your breath too long.

  1. The “mass media” is nothing more than the propganda arm of the Demoncrat (spelling 100% intentional) Party and “public education – at every grade level and university – is not delivering an actual education but rather brainwashing the next generation. Unfortunately the supposed Republicans are either incompetent or unwilling to confront the issues.

  2. It took a bit for me to comment. My family is going through some things right now. Anyway, you are so right that mainstream media would never have taken directives from the White House about what to report on–unless it truly had detrimental affects for the country. However, even then, it was questionable. The George W. Bush years were filled with tumult over what newspapers chose to print during a war when asked not to.

It all comes down to if their guy/gal is in office, and that bias is not journalism.
