In the 1920s, as Adolf Hitler’s National Socialist German Workers Party, otherwise known as Nazis, was gaining political and social power, its brown-shirted paramilitary wing called the Sturmabteilung (SA) was busy marching and demonstrating in cities and university campuses.

Their main target? Germany’s Jews.

I never thought I would see the day in America when college students would embrace the Nazi party’s anti-Semitic policies that called for the extermination of all Jews.

But that’s exactly what I see on dozens of college campuses—from Harvard and Columbia in the East to Stanford and UCLA in the West.

Is this just a fleeting aberration? Apparently not.

When college students and others protest and march in support of Hamas, the terrorist organization that has ruled Palestinians in Gaza since 2007, they openly embrace Hamas’s stated goal to destroy the state of Israel and exterminate all Jews.

In case anybody has forgotten, Hamas terrorists got off to a good start on October 7 when they invaded Israel and slaughtered 1,400 innocent Jews living in villages and kibbutzim.

The almost immediate response on dozens of college campuses was to blame Israel, the victim of the horrendous butchery, and not Hamas, the perpetrator.

Look at the results of this Harvard/Harris poll of Americans between the ages of 18 and 24–the age range of most college students. Are you as appalled as I am? Fifty-one percent of those polled say the slaughter of Israeli citizens on October 7 was justifiable.

 

How could students arrive at such a crass conclusion?

Having spent some 13 years as a professor and dean at a Big Ten university, I know how powerful the influence of professors is on their students—many of whom arrive in universities with only a smattering of world history in their largely blank brains. Few have spent much time learning history and have only a transient knowledge of the Holocaust during World War II, in which some six million Jews were exterminated in Nazi death camps and elsewhere.

Is it any wonder, then, that they are falling prey to the old adage that those who ignore history are condemned to repeat it?

Anti-Semitic and deceitful University professors are well aware of that axiom and are perfectly content to see history repeat itself regarding the Jews who survived the Holocaust and founded the State of Israel in 1948.

Here’s one example of what I am talking about. At Stanford, a university lecturer was suspended after Jewish students complained they’d been made to stand in a corner while being called “colonizers” as part of a lesson just three days after Hamas attacked Israel.

Here’s another. Cornell University associate professor of history Russell Rickford, speaking at a pro-Palestine rally on Oct. 15, called the vicious attack by Hamas terrorists “exhilarating” and “energizing,” adding that the attacks “shifted the balance of politics and punctured the illusion of invincibility” of Israel.

Just one day after Hamas’ Oct. 7 attack, a coalition of 34 student groups at Harvard, including the campus Amnesty International chapter, signed a letter claiming Israel was “entirely responsible” for the slaughter and essentially deserved it. Harvard President Claudine Gay seemed to support the students and was condemned for her reaction. She had to issue three statements before finally coming out against the “barbaric atrocities perpetrated by Hamas.”

However, some folks off campus were less shy about condemning terrorism against innocent civilians in Israel, and they resolved to “dox” hundreds of students who were stupid enough to sign the pro-Hamas letter. A truck arrived on campus with digital billboards that read: “Harvard’s Leading Anti-Semites” above a slideshow of the names and photos of students who allegedly signed the letter.

Soon after, hedge fund billionaire Bill Ackman said he would blacklist and not hire any student who had signed up to support Hamas terrorists and blame Israel. He was quickly joined by a dozen other top CEOs.

Way to begin your business careers, students!

Jon Huntsman Jr., one of the University of Pennsylvania’s most prominent donors, announced he was halting all of his family’s donations to the institution after university president Liz Magill took a full week to condemn Hamas — a silence the billionaire called Anti-Semitism.

None of those moves have had much impact on several American law schools. They posted recommendations on their websites for their students to join organizations formally designated as terrorist groups.

According to the Daily Caller, the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), Northeastern University School of Law, and Georgetown Law Center are promoting the group Al-Haq as a possible place of employment for future law graduates. Al-Haq has been designated by the U.S. State Department as a Foreign Terrorist Organization under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act.

I was appalled when several allegedly intelligent law students at Columbia University referred to Hamas as a “resistance organization.”

So, invading Israel and butchering, raping, and beheading women and children—including babies—is now called resistance? When did they change the definition of that word? Because what those students were calling “resistance” was nothing short of a massacre and slaughter of innocents.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir once said, “We can forgive them [Muslims] for killing our children. We cannot forgive them for forcing us to kill their children. We will only have peace with them when they love their children more than they hate us.”

It was a prescient observation by Golda Meir that certainly rings true today.

It appears that Hamas’s hate for Israel and Jews has been baked into the mindset of the Palestinian body politic.  Hamas has a policy of rewarding all Palestinian families who have been involved in killing Israeli citizens.

Under Palestinian Authority law, every terrorist killed attacking Israel is defined as a “Martyr.” That person’s family is immediately rewarded by the P.A. with a grant of 6,000 shekels ($1,511) and a 1,400 shekel ($353) per month allowance for life.

In other words, when the Biden administration sends money to the Palestinian Authority, ostensibly for human aid, etc., we effectively pay Hamas and Palestinians to kill Israelis.

There is something wrong with this picture.

I wonder how long it will be before the anti-Semitic students in American universities end all pretense and begin wearing Nazi brown shirts with armbands emblazoned with Swastikas.

Because that’s all that’s missing as thousands of fatuous students continue to proclaim their support for the modern Nazi organization, Hamas.
